Everyones First Day

Good evening!! I know, kinda late to post but I am such a night owl and find myself most awake at this time. I decide I was gonna give you guys some advice for your first day of school. Hopefully tomorrow is your fist day, I know mine is. I always find myself to be the most excited out of my friends for school to start which is bizarre because I was never a huge fan of school till college came around. Anyways! I am currently snuggled up in bed drinking some of the yummy tea my wonderful boyfriend brought back from his adventure to india. This summer has been so busy. Work, school and finally we ended it with a cruise! It was all so fun but I’m kind of ready to jump back into the swing of things.

I remember as a kid the first day of school was basically like the worst day ever! I hope my students don’t feel that way.  I want to be a teacher and some of the things I want to do is music Mondays, where students come into the classroom and bang on drums and shake tambourines for an hour to wake up a bit. I want to have the most colorful classroom in the school where kids are putting their work up all over the walls. I want my kids to learn their multiplications and sight words through songs and silly rimes we make up as a class. I want to do since projects and have show and tell every Friday. I want creativity to be spilling out of every inch of that classroom. I want my student to be so stoked to come to Ms. Olivia’s class they can hardly wait. To be honest I think I’m gonna be so excited to be a teacher ill have a hard time sleeping at night!

All of this is so wonderful but obviously there’s lots of work to be done before I can do that!! I guess I just wanted to share some stuff i like to do before and during my first day of school so prepare myself so an awesome semester.

Get Up EARLY!! If there is anyone who rolls out of bed and straight into her classroom its me. I’m always rushing out the door, hair a mess and at least half of my coffee on my shirt. One of my goals this year, is to wake up on time so I have time to breath before class starts. On the rare occasion that I do decide to get my butt out of bed I always feel 10 times better walking into class awake and ready to go.

Get your “first day outfit” out. So a cool thing about getting up early is that you can take time to pick a cute outfit and maybe put some mascara on! Wether you’re in college (like me) or in high school, I think its kinda nice to walk into class in a cute new outfit. Taking time to wake up and look presentable is also something you’re going to have to learn to do one day anyways so ya might as well start now!

Make you’re “to do” list the night before. This is something that is a MUST for me. I am one of those people who writes everything down, highlights and underlines everything and makes my planner my best friend during the year. Whatever works for you. Also on that to do list add a “Goals” list and a “What I am grateful for” list. A positive start is always a great way to get going. Getting organized always helps me feel better and I hope it will help you too!

Say a little prayer. One thing that truly is probably one of my favorite parts of the day is my drive to school. Even when I’m in a hurry I always turn on my worship Pandora station and try to get some morning worship in. Sometimes I get so pumped I turn it up really loud and sing at the top of my lungs and forget people can see into my car. I really like listening to worship music, sipping on my warm coffee and thinking about all of the things He has planned for that day. I try to switch out the bible verse on my visor in my car once a week so i have something to reflect on and its also way fun to memorize them by the time Friday comes around! Right when I park or even one the way to class (worship music than blasting in my earphones) I like to say a prayer. I like talking to the God as if He was a friend I was walking to class with. First acknowledge how wonderful He is. Sometimes I complement his sunrise or weather he’s blessed us with that day. I then think of anything I need to confess to. Anything that is heavy on my heart followed thanks, thanking Him for what He did for us and for filling my lungs with another breath this morning. Lastly I like to pray for my friends a family. I like to keep a prayer request page on my phone or in my agenda.

These are just a couple of things I like to do. I know school can be so scary sometimes but be open and appreciative to the education you have. Take a deep breath, put a smile on that face, introduce yourself with your chin up, and remember that as stressful as this life may be Jesus has always got your back! Hope these helped and I truly hope your first day and rest of the semester is a great one!
